I hate this time of year when we set our clocks back. I get off work and it is already dark outside. It makes you feel like you need to go home and go to bed. Plus people don't seem to be as happy during the winter months and we all seem to have less energy.
I guess I'm celebrating the time change and cooler weather by getting a sinus infection. I get them at least twice a year, but this year I'm getting sick a little early. Usually I get sick around the holidays so I feel icky for Christmas or New Year's Eve, sometimes both.
It came on me all of the sudden Saturday morning. I was feeling fine and then in what seemed like a blink of an eye, I started feeling like crap. I spent yesterday in bed and today I stayed home from work. I wasn't able to get an appointment with the scary doctor till 2:15 this afternoon so I didn't get much rest today. It didn't help that the painters started painting the inside of our house today so my husband, son, and I had to hang out in the bedroom most of the day while they worked.
Let me explain about the scary doctor. I have another doctor, but I always go to the scary doctor when I have a sinus infection. I know I can get in and get out quick instead of having to wait for what seems like hours to see the doctor like you do at most places. When I'm sick the last thing I want to do is hang out in the doctor's office. I named the doctor I used today the scary doctor because she has 2 big dogs. In her office! I don't like dogs, especially big ones.
One time I opened the door to her office and one of the dogs jumped on me. Not cool. I know they are friendly dogs, but I'm not a dog person by any means. Her office isn't very clean either. I'm really shocked at the condition every time I go in there. The only thing that keeps me going back is that I can get my drugs quick. When I feel bad that is all that matters.
Today I did have to wait about 10 minutes to see the doctor. Not bad at all compared to most doctor's offices. I know that a doctor is wh0 you go to when you are sick, but I was waiting in a small room with a really sick guy. He was coughing the whole time we waited. I heard him tell the nurse that he has been sick for 2 weeks with the flu. He then told her that his son has pink eye and a double ear infection and his wife and daughter have the flu as well. I was thankful that my family wasn't sick like his. However, I'll be honest and tell you that after hearing how sick his family was all I wanted to do was bathe in Purell as soon as I left the office.
