The Things I Hear

As many of you know, I'm an insurance agent while I'm building my business, Cherished Gifts & Favors. Today while reviewing a customer's auto policy he asked if his insurance was going to go up since he received a ticket in September. He was going 75 mph on the interstate when a cop pulled him over. He said that he knew he wasn't speeding so he took the ticket to court to try to get it waived. The judge let the ticket stand even though the police officer admitted his radar gun beeped while he was looking down so he couldn't say for sure that it had caught my customer speeding. He testified that it was possible that it could have been another car. My customer stated that he had a $450 radar detector in his car so if he had been speeding he would have slowed down before the cop's radar detector picked him up.

He explained that he fought the ticket because he knew he wasn't speeding. He then informs me that he had his cruise control set at 75 and was reading the paper when the cop pulled him over. Yes, he told me that! He was reading the paper will driving 75 mph! I was shocked! I couldn't believe that he was doing that. I also didn't think it was something you would tell your insurance agent. A few minutes, later I had to ask. Did he tell the cop and the judge too? Yes, he did!
